Letter: Anthony V. Fasolo, Leesburg

Editor: The first three words I thought of when I read that the Virginia legislature had finally passed Medicaid expansion were kindness, compassion and service—words borrowed from Princess Diana of England—thanks to Gov. Northam, Lt. Gov. Fairfax and the Democrats (many newly elected) who worked with Republicans to get this done.

Many thousands will now benefit. I would also ask that State Sen. Black and former U.S. Senator Santorum re-think their opposition. How can they be against providing much needed healthcare to so many?

Virginia is for lovers and not haters.

The issue isn’t compassion. The issue is how are we going to pay for it? As always, we’re going to pay for it by passing the bar tab on to our kids and grand kids. They’re going to be the ones to pay for it Mr. Faslo.

Democrats are very fond of passing legislation, thumping their chests about how noble they are, all while they slip the invoice into our kids backpacks on the sly.

Somewhere down the not to distant line, some Governor and GA is going to have reckon with a massive tax increase to cover your ‘feel good’ of today.
