Just days after claiming its first gold medal in the Virginia Craft Beer Cup competition, the Black Hoof Brewing Company hosted a special birthday party on Saturday—one for itself.
Closing out a remarkable first year of operation in which the brewery helped fuel downtown Leesburg’s resurgence, owners Bill and Nikki Haase thanked their lender, “the greatest staff,” and their patrons.
“I call you my Black Hoof family. You are,” Bill Hasse said, before the former Marine cut the birthday cake with a sword.
“Leesburg and Loudoun County have been just a great place for us to start a business,” Nikki Hasse added.
Building on Bill Hasse’s award-winning homebrewing experience, Black Hoof opened last summer in the space occupied for decades by Caulkins Jewelers on South King Street. Last week, Black Hoof’s Island Pond hefeweizen won a Virginia Craft Beer Cup gold medal.
