Belmont Ridge Middle School’s talented teens put on a show that’s practically perfect in every way

Belmont Ridge Middle School’s RiverHawk Productions will bring a spoonful of sugar and a whole lot of fun to audiences as it presents “Mary Poppins, the Musical”, March 24, 25 and 26, and March 30, 31 and April 1.

Based on the beloved stories by P.L. Travers, and inspired by the 1964 movie starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, RiverHawk’s “Mary Poppins” tells the story of a “practically-perfect-in-every-way” nanny who literally flies in to set affairs in the Banks family aright. With help from chimney sweep/jack-of-all-trades Bert, Mary takes young Michael and Jane Banks on exciting adventures, all the while teaching them (and the adults in their lives), “Anything can happen if you let it.”

Featuring the songs you know and love (“Chim Chim Cheree”, “Jolly Holiday”, “Step in Time”) fantastical flying effects, gorgeous costumes, professionally designed and engineered moving sets, a few jaw-dropping surprises and the unrivaled talent of a cast and crew of nearly 200 kids, this is a production that you and your family will not want to miss.

“The directors and producers are so excited to see these incredible middle schoolers bring P.L. Travers’s magical story to life,” says Jason Paul Augustowski, RiverHawk’s Executive Director/Choreographer. “Much longer and more intricate than the original movie version, this full Broadway production is sure to wow and entertain the entire family.”

Tickets are available starting March 1 at www.lcps.org/tickets (reserved seating only).
