#NoKXL Nonviolent Civil Disobedience Training
April 9 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
It’s back — and so are we. The Trump Administration has approved the final federal permit for the Keystone XL pipeline. But we still have a chance to stop it — if we get banks to drop TransCanada, the company behind this disastrous tar sands pipeline.
April 15-21 will be a national week of action targeting three key banks funding the Keystone Pipeline– JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Citibank. 350 Loudoun will join this effort by holding an action at a key bank branch in Loudoun during that week (location/date to be announced at the training).
The action will include legal picketing and/or nonviolent civil disobedience.
Both the action and the training are open to everyone, including people who do not wan…t to take part in civil disobedience.
At the training, we will go over the fundamentals of nonviolent civil disobedience. Topics covered will include principles of nonviolence, de-escalation techniques, solidarity in action, action roles, action planning, direct action tools, and the legal implications of nonviolent civil disobedience . A lawyer with years of experience representing activists in the DC area will be present at the training to give a legal briefing and answer questions.
Come, even if you’re only curious. We’d love to have you!
