On Saturday, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts throughout Loudoun County joined in the annual Scouting For Food drive. Organizers are still tallying the results but have confirmed that food donations surpassed last year’s totals.
Last weekend, the scouts delivered plastic grocery bags to homes in their neighborhoods asking residents to fill them and leave them outside for pickup Saturday. The scouts loaded the donations onto trucks and trailers and dropped them off at assistance centers.
Here, scouts unload, weigh and sort donations at Loudoun Interfaith Relief’s collection center in Leesburg. LIR was one of eight local food pantries to benefit from the effort. Others were Catholic Charities, the Dulles South Food Pantry, LINK, Messiah’s Market, Seven Loaves, Tree of Life, and the Western Loudoun Food Pantry.
