A suspected DUI driver is hospitalized after hitting three vehicles in Broadlands on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Rodrigo A Diaz-Requeno, 36, of Herndon, was driving a 2006 Nissan Altima north on Chickacoan Trail Drive just after 3:30 p.m. when he sped through a stop sign and struck a 2013 Nissan Altima driven by an Ashburn man. After the crash, Diaz-Requeno continued eastbound in the westbound lanes of Broadlands Boulevard, causing a motorist to swerve into the raised median. Continuing to drive against traffic in the wrong lane, he struck two more vehicles head on, both had small children inside.
Diaz-Requeno was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment. He remained in serious condition Friday. He has been charged with DUI and additional charges are expected.
