A Middleburg woman who hit a Middleburg Police Officer along Rt. 50 Saturday has been charged with DUI, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The officer was helping motorists who attended Christmas in Middleburg event and parked at Mercer’s Field to exit onto Rt. 50 at the time of the incident. Just before 6 p.m., he was struck by an eastbound 2013 BMW driven by 53-year-old Sara Marsh.
The officer was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he was treated and later released from the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.
Marsh was charged with DUI and taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where she was later released.
The roads around and in Middleburg were busy Saturday, as the western Loudoun town hosted its annual Christmas in Middleburg celebration. The daylong event typically draws several thousand people to the town.
