Letter: Jeff Phillips, Leesburg
Dear Editor: The sidewalks on the widened portion of Leesburg’s King Street are wide enough to attract “cafe” clientele.
Having lived in cafe-rich Europe and Israel, studied urban design, and had oversight of some restaurants, I know that two-top cafe tables and seating will attract many; the notion that a restaurant needs larger tables outside is misguided.
In cities and towns from Paris to Rotenburg to Tiberias, people enjoy tiny tables; they watch passersby, nosh, sip coffee, wine, and so forth.
The restaurants are glad for the business, which attracts others.
