A religiously diverse group plans a candlelight vigil in Leesburg on Thursday afternoon.
Members of the Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Bahai’, Unitarian, Hindu, and Buddhist faiths will participate in the event to demonstrate unity, promote community safety and counter prejudice.
Participants will gather at 4 p.m. at Leesburg Presbyterian Church, 207 W. Market St., and walk the three blocks to courthouse square. At 4:45 p.m., they will line the downtown sidewalks for a silent vigil at the intersection of Market Street and King Street.
The program is organized by Loudoun Interfaith Bridges, a nonprofit that brings promote understanding and respect among communities of different faiths and ethnicities.
