The installation of the 2016 Loudoun County Board of Supervisors will be no ordinary affair.
Incoming County Chairman Phyllis Randall (D-At Large) is the force behind the planned “Celebrate Loudoun” event to be held Jan. 2 at Lansdowne Resort.
As part of the transition from an all-Republican board to one with three Democrats, Randall has emphasized the need for bi-partisan cooperation. She hopes to build that spirit with the community celebration.
The day’s activities will begin with a ceremonial swearing in of new supervisors from 10 a.m. to noon. The public is invited to attend.
Starting at 7 p.m., residents are invited to attend the Celebrate Loudoun Gala in Lansdowne Resort’s main ballroom. The event includes a buffet dinner and a band for dancing. Tickets are $50 per person and $80 per couple. Attendance is limited to 500. Additionally, those attending either the installation ceremony or the gala are asked to bring two canned good items as donations to Loudoun County food pantries.
All proceeds for the day’s activities, including ticket sales and sponsorships, will be used first to cover the direct costs of the event. Any remaining funds will be distributed to three Loudoun charities to be determined by the board.
To purchase advance tickets, go to wecelebrateloudoun.com before midnight Friday, Jan. 1. Only cash or checks will be accepted for ticket purchases at the door.
