The barriers will come down Tuesday, opening a new section of Loudoun County Parkway.
The four-lane section extends the road south from Evergreen Ridge Drive to Creighton Road. The construction was led by Toll Brothers as a condition of an earlier rezoning and was completed 15 months ahead of schedule.
A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned at 4:30 p.m. at the Creighton Road intersection.
Opening the link to motorists is expected to reduce cut-through in the Loudoun Valley Estates and Brambleton neighborhoods.
There still is another important link on the drawing boards. The extension of the road south to connect with the existing Loudoun County Parkway along the west side of Dulles Airport is scheduled for completion in 2017.
