The often whimsical depictions of Purcellville and Loudoun County life painted on wine barrels proved a big hit this summer with residents and visitors alike. On Saturday, these popular works of art will be sold to support other art projects in town.
The barrel project was coordinated by the Purcellville Economic Development Advisory Committee, spearheaded by EDAC member Michael Oaks. The auction will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Bush Tabernacle, 250 S. Nursery Ave. Some of the money raised will go toward the next EDAC public art project—hand painted Christmas, Hanukah and Kwanzaa decorations to be displayed throughout the downtown area.
The auction will be conducted by Damewood Auctioneers, and Mexican food and beer and will be available during the event. Tickets are $10 each, and will allow entry for prizes, including one of the painted barrels. Tickets are available at brownpapertickets.com/event/2585292.
