Leesburg Program to Highlight Support Services for Immigrants

St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Leesburg is teaming up with DREAMers’ Mom’s of Northern Virginia and attorney Lucero Ortiz to provide a workshop on local and federal immigration programs and services, immigrant rights, and support strategies for direct providers working with immigrants in Loudoun County.

The program will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 from noon to 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church’s Parish Hall at 14 Cornwall Street NW in Leesburg. Spanish language interpretation provided.

The program is geared toward direct services providers who work with, advise, and support immigrants—including social services, health care, faith-based organizations, law enforcement, public and private education staff, legal services and financial services.

The session will present information on the resources available to immigrants in Loudon County; family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, deferred action for Childhood Arrivals and Bridge Act; a person’s rights when dealing with law enforcement and immigration officials; and strategies for family and community planning.
