The magical season of the Loudoun Valley High School boys basketball team will culminate Friday as the Vikings seek to bring home the state championship trophy.
The Vikings yesterday turned back a first-half challenge from the Washington Mighty Bookers of Norfolk to win 75-43 the semi-final game at the Salem Civic Center.
Powered by Junior Jordon Miller, the team’s leading scorer and the 4A West player of the year, the Vikings built a 30-1 record in their quest for the school’s first ever boys basketball state title. The team’s sole loss was a 63-60 game at Jan. 26 at Heritage High School.
In the final contest, Loudoun Valley will face Jamestown, which beat John Handley 66-65 in Saturday’s other semi-final game. The championship will be played Friday starting at 8:30 p.m. at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
