According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Clarence D. Swaim, 51, was reportedly involved in a domestic-related incident prior to the shooting. Around 10:40 p.m., he apparently fired a shot into the air before discharging a round at a random vehicle near Armstrong Terrace.
The driver of the vehicle, who is not known to the suspect, was not injured.
Swaim was arrested without incident and was charged unlawful shooting at a car, reckless handling of a firearm and brandishing a firearm.
He was held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for July 20 in Loudoun County District Court.
