The Town of Hillsboro kicked off its Independence Day celebrations with a bit of history Saturday morning. For the first time, town leaders secured permission to close down the town’s main street—Rt. 9—to allow a community parade. Area residents were joined by County Chairwoman Phyllis Randall, Supervisors Tony Buffington and Geary Higgins, Del. Dave LaRock and a large contingent from the Hillsboro Charter Academy the patriotic procession through town. A big crowd will return this afternoon and tonight for activities at the Old Stone School, including concerts and fireworks.
