The Leesburg Police Department is investigating the death of a man found with stab wounds last night.
Officers were called to Wythe Court, near the Shenandoah Square shopping center in the northeast quadrant of town shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday. They found the 47-year-old victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
While they conduct the homicide investigation, police said there was no ongoing threat to the community.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Section at 703-771-4500.
It would be the third Loudoun homicide this year.
In June, the body of Nabra Hassanen, a 17-year-old Reston girl who was abducted as she was walking to services at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society, was found dead in a Sterling pond. Darwin Martinez Torres, of Sterling, is charged with murder in the case, which is being handled in Fairfax County where the initial altercation occurred.
In August, a Lucketts-area man was charged with murder in the death of his father. In that case, investigators said Michael F. Bowles, 20, shot and killed Mario M. Bowles, 52, and then set their home on fire in an effort to conceal the crime.
This is an ongoing story, and we will report more as we learn it.
