Crews are preparing for a slippery combination of rain and freezing temperatures today.
The wintery mix is expected to hit the Loudoun County area between 1 and 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Commuters are warned to drive slow. Roads, bridges, and sidewalks will likely be slippery.
Schools in Loudoun are closed today because of the threat of the afternoon ice storm. Local schools were also closed Thursday and Friday because of frigid temperatures.
