The Town Council last week filled vacancies on two of its key advisory boards.
Martha Mason Semmes was recommended for appointment to the town’s Board of Zoning Appeals. Semmes currently serves as Middleburg’s town administrator. Previous career stops include in the Town of Purcellville, where she led the Planning and Zoning Department for six years, and in Leesburg itself, where she held the same role in the 1980s.
The Circuit Court ultimately is the one to make BZA appointments, but generally goes by the recommendation offered by the council. Semmes’ term on the BZA is for five years.
The council also filled a vacancy on its Planning Commission, voting to appoint David Faliskie, chief operating officer of Leesburg-based EIT LLC. Councilman Ron Campbell put forward Faliskie’s name for appointment. His term is effective through Dec. 31, 2020.
