Two Norfolk residents are behind bars following their arrest in connection with theft ring that investigators said hit stores across the region.
Akeem R. Askew, 27 and Lisa V. Cobbs, 38, were arrested after a Feb. 22 theft of clothing from the JCPenney store at the Dulles Town Center mall.
Askew was charged with possession of burglarious tools, petit larceny (third conviction), giving false identification to law enforcement, and possession of narcotics. Cobbs was charged withpossession of burglarious tools, petit larceny (third conviction), petit larceny, forging public records, and two counts of identity theft.
Investigators found additional merchandise—valued at $13,000— in the suspects’ vehicle that was believed to have been taken from stores outside of Loudoun County. Additional charges are likely, the agency said.
Askew and Cobbs were held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
