Traveler Nabbed at Dulles with $1M in Heroin
A woman arriving at Dulles Airport on a flight from Mexico on Saturday morning was found to be carrying a suitcase filled with suspected heroin, according to Customs and Border Protection.
Nelly Davila, 39, is a U.S. citizen who lives in Mexico. CBP agents found 7 kilograms of the drug concealed in her suitcase during an inspection. At a street value of $200 per gram, the seizure is valued at $1.4 million. It was enough of the drug to circulate 70,000 doses.
She is charged with importing a schedule I controlled substance and faces a maximum penalty of 40 years and a mandatory minimum of five years in prison, if convicted.
Davila was scheduled for a preliminary hearing and detention hearing Wednesday at the federal courthouse in Alexandria.
