Nancy Ann Navratil Morton 1944-2018
Nancy Ann Navratil Morton, age 74, passed away Wednesday, March 14 at 15:14 in Leesburg, VA, while holding her daughter’s (Mary Barbara and Michelle Ruth Morton) hands. She was an amazing person, full of kindness and generosity, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Nancy was the eldest child of Ruth Marie (Teske) and John James Navratil. Born Feb. 13, 1944 in Clarksdale, MS, and raised in Wellington, OH. She grew up driving tractors at her family’s tractor supply business, and worked as a telephone switchboard operator before leaving for college. Mom was also a proud member of the Eastern Star. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in both Mathematics and Elementary Education at the University of Miami in Oxford Ohio. She then taught in Ohio until moving to Miami, and eventually Fort Myers, Florida with her (then) husband, where she continued to teach at several schools in Fort Myers after her divorce in 1992. She officially retired in 2007, and spent the rest of her years living with Mary and Michelle in Seattle, WA, Los Angeles, CA, and finally in Leesburg, VA. She also held a Real Estate license in Florida.
She extensively traveled throughout the United States, and also the world, both solo and with her daughters, to Europe, Africa, South America, and the Middle East. She enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, aviation, botany, cooking her famous Apple Pie (among a multitude of other delectable dishes), attending numerous concerts (including Ozz Fest, U2, Madonna, Video Games Symphonies, Bon Jovi, Muse, and Frightened Rabbit with Mary and/or Michelle), but most importantly spending time with her daughters, her grandson, and their prides of cats.
She dedicated her life to being a wonderful person to anyone she encountered, offering any assistance within her power to those in need.
She is survived by her two daughters: Mary and Michelle, and her grandson (by Mary) John David.
In lieu of flowers/offerings, Nancy requested that donations be made to support the trap/neuter/return and Medical needs of a cat colony in Maryland.
