A School Board-appointed committee is asking for people to share their name ideas for the county’s next elementary school, for now known as ES-31.
The is scheduled to open in the fall 2019 on the east side of Belmont Ridge Road, north of Waxpool Road and south of Truro Parish Drive.
The naming committee, made up of parents, educators and students, will hold two public meetings when people can submit their ideas: 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, and 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 30, at the school administration building, 21000 Education Court in Ashburn.
The committee will consider geographic and historic names, as well as names of deceased individuals who significantly contributed to improving life in Loudoun County, in the county’s schools, in Virginia or in the nation. Per School Board policy, the committee will not consider naming a building after an individual, unless he or she has been deceased for at least five years, or under extraordinary circumstances.
