Ashburn singer Brandon Diaz entered the elite class of ABC’s American Idol competition during an episode that aired Monday night. He’s in the top 24, surviving thousands of hopefuls who tried out for the national star search starting last fall.
Fans—or Brandiacs—will learn next week whether Diaz makes it past the Idol judges to the final 12, whose future will be decided by viewers’ votes.
The experiences of several Idol contestants have been extensively covered in televised episodes over the past several weeks. However, Diaz hasn’t been seen much on the TV screen since his successful audition, which was taped last October in New York City. That should change next week, when Diaz is expected to sing a duet with Puerto Rican singer and songwriter Luis Fonsi.
Diaz posted this note on his Facebook page following last night’s episode:
TOP 24 HERE WE COME!!! 🔥🙌 Can’t believe this is happening, this has been a dream for me my whole life and it is finally coming true 😭🙏 // I have so much appreciation for my #Brandiacs , let’s bring this win home.
