A Manassas man is behind bars following a police chase and a trip to the hospital this morning.
According to a Loudoun Sheriff’s Office report, the chase started on Rt. 15 near Oatlands Road south of Leesburg just after 4 a.m. A deputy saw a vehicle traveling under the posted speed limit and weaving in the travel lanes. When the deputy initiated a traffic stop, the driver sped away, heading south on Rt. 15 and then east on Rt. 50. Near Lenah Mill Road, a deputy deployed stop sticks and one tire was flattened. The vehicle continued traveling on three tires into Fairfax County and then entered Prince William County on I-66. The driver lost control and crashed near the Rt. 234 interchange.
The driver, Anthony Kim, 55, of Manassas, then was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries and then taken to the Prince William County jail, where he was held without bond. In Loudoun, Kim was charged with felony eluding law enforcement, possession of stolen property, driving on a revoked license (fourth offense) and reckless driving.
The crash is being investigated by Virginia State Police.
