A former employee of Grafton Integrated Health Network was arrested Wednesday in West Virginia on charges stemming from an assault at the Loudoun County Youth Shelter last month.
Melissa Rosario, 41, of Maryland, has been charged with strangulation, assault and battery and preventing the victim from contacting law enforcement.
Grafton Integrated Health Network operates the Youth Shelter under contract with the Loudoun County government.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office detectives with the worked with Loudoun Child Protective Services to investigate the March 29 incident. Rosario allegedly assaulted a teenager and the prevented the victim from calling 911 to report the incident.
Staff members intervened and the employee was immediately removed from the facility and terminated the next day. Grafton notified Loudoun CPS and is fully cooperating with the investigation. The teenager was not seriously injured, according to the report.
Rosario was taken into custody yesterday, by the Jefferson County (WV) Sheriff’s Office and is being held at the Eastern Regional Jail pending extradition to Virginia.
