Area entrepreneurs pitched creative business and nonprofit ideas at George Mason University’s Deans’ Business Competition earlier this month, and several took home prize money to support their ideas.
The contest gave Mason students and recent alumni the opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of three judges and more than 200 audience members gathered for the 2018 Day of Innovation on April 12.
The winners in the traditional business category and their prizes are: first place Inspex ($10,000), second place MicroInvestigate ($5,000), and top audience choice vote-getter Two Tree Outfitters ($2,000). Winners in the social entrepreneurship category and their prizes are: first place BeBrave ($5,000), second place Celise ($2,500), and top audience choice vote-getter BeBrave ($1,000). Winners in the Mobile Game Design category and their prizes are: first place Leo’s Lighthouse ($10,000 worth of development time) and second place The Wizard Murandabo ($5,000 in development time).
The winners were selected from among thousands of applicants.
