Starting this week, Volaris will become the first ultra-low-cost international carrier operating at Dulles Airport. The airline will provide round trip flights to San Salvador, El Salvador, with same plane service to San Jose, Costa Rica, using an Airbus A319.
The inaugural flight arrives at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, and departs at 1:52 a.m. Thursday, May 17.
A ceremony was planned Thursday morning to celebrate the service expansion. Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax was scheduled to join Volaris leaders for the kickoff.
Based in Mexico, Volaris is expanding its fleet from 71 aircraft today to 124 by 2026.
