The Dulles Greenway’s 13th annual Drive For Charity on Thursday raised $315,860 for six area charities and high school scholarships.
Under the program, all tolls collected on the privately owned highway during a 24-hour period are donated to the charities. Over the past 13 years, the program has raised more than $3.3 million. The event raised $348,000 last year and $331,000 in 2016.
This year’s beneficiaries are: March of Dimes (National Capital Area), Every Citizen Has Opportunities (ECHO), Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter (LAWS), Fresh Air/Full Care, Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy, and Loudoun Free Clinic. The campaign also supports a $2,000 scholarship given to each of Loudoun County’s 16 public high schools.
