The Goose Creek Association is organizing a Goose Creek Cleanup for Saturday, June 2 starting at 8:30 a.m.
The event is held in conjunction with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s 30thannual Clean the Bay Day, when thousands of Virginians go to the rivers, streams and beaches of the Chesapeake Bay watershed to remove litter and debris. According to the foundation, since 1989, Clean the Bay Day has engaged over 152,000 volunteers, who have removed approximately 6.4 million pounds of debris from nearly 7,390 miles of shoreline in Virginia.
The association will launch a flotilla of canoes from a point approximately 3.5 miles upstream and float down to the parking spot at the Church of Our Savior, 20340 James Monroe Highway south of Leesburg.
There are 20 canoes available in total, or bring your own. Lunch is provided. Register by emailing email@example.com, calling 540-687-3073, or online at cbf.org.
