Abicyclist on the W&OD Trail was hospitalized Saturday after a being struck by a vehicle while crossing Sterling Boulevard.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the cyclist was traveling east on the trail and crossed over the southbound lane of South Sterling Boulevard when she was hit by a northbound motorist. She was taken to Reston Hospital for treatment of injuries, described as non-life-threatening.
Deputies determined that the driver had the right of way and no charges were filed.
Another bike rider was hit by a car on Saturday near the intersection of Waxpool Road and Covent Garden Drive in Ashburn. In that case, the cyclist heard a car approach from behind before he was struck and knocked off the bike. The motorist came back to check on the victim, but fled when the cyclist said he was calling law enforcement.
