Clara “Clarike” Bowman-Jahn passed away peacefully on June 23. She is survived by her husband Ed Jahn, her sons Eric and Ben Bowman, brothers John and Paul, and sisters Annelies and Mieke. She loved watching the birds, helping others, and writing.
She was born July 26, 1949, in Leiden, Netherlands to “Joop” and “Nini.” She immigrated in 1956 to Vienna, VA. This experience drove her passion to volunteer tutoring English as a Second Language (ESL).
Clara graduated Shenandoah College with an Associate’s in Nursing in 1970 and worked as a Registered Nurse until 2002.
Clara married Stewart Bowman in 1975 who passed in 1991. She married Ed Jahn in 1997 and enjoyed a supportive and fulfilling marriage of 21 years.
Clara was a teacher of creative writing, a writer of children’s books and an unfinished memoir.
Clara devoted herself to service, through Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA), as an ESL tutor, as a Stephen’s Minister, and as an organizer of women’s retreats.

A service will be held at 11:00am, July 14, at the Leesburg Presbyterian Church. Her family invites you to join them.
