A Sterling church deacon this week was indicted in a 15-year-old case involving allegations of child sexual abuse.
Kevin O’Connor, 62, of Calvary Temple in Sterling, was indicted Monday by a Loudoun grand jury and was arrested Thursday. He is charged with sexual assault by force, two counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of aggravated sexual battery while incapacitated (asleep), and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.
The victim was between 13 and 15 years old at the time of the alleged abuse.
The case was initially reported to the Sheriff’s Office in 2003 but prosecutors declined to pursue charges at that time. The case was reexamined by the Sheriff’s Office in 2012 and new leads were developed through interviews leading to Monday’s indictment.
O’Connor was held without bond at the Adult Detention Center. A preliminary hearing date has not yet been set.
