Think it’s not the ideal weekend to hit the pool? You better ask your pooch about that.
Before the public pools close for season, there will be chances for dogs to get a few good laps in. On Saturday, dog swims will be held in Leesburg and Lovettsville. On Sunday, Franklin Park near Purcellville will be taken over by canines.
At Leesburg’s A.V. Symington Aquatic Center the 10th annual dog swim runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dog handlers must be 16 years or older and are limited to two dogs each. All dogs must be at least 6 months old, legally licensed, vaccinated, and wearing a visible dog license. All exits will be gated and a veterinarian will be on site as a precaution. In Lovettsville, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.dogs are welcome to frolic with Frisbees and balls, County dog licenses are mandatory. No registration required. Call 540-822-5284 or e-mail Lovcc@loudoun.gov for more information.
On Sunday at Franklin Park, dogs are invited for a three-mile dog walk/jog and to take a dip in the pool. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. for the 9 a.m. walk/jog and 11:30 a.m. for the noon walk/jog. The pool is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a $5 activity fee. Call 540-338-7603 for more information.
