Loudoun County Public Schools administrators and the Leesburg Police Department have confirmed they are investigating an alleged assault involving members of the Tuscarora High School football team. However, few details of the case have been released.
According to a statement released by the school system today, administrators became aware of the incident on Friday, Oct. 5. The assault is alleged to have occurred Monday, Oct. 1 in a locker room at the school.
“To preserve the integrity of the investigation by Leesburg police—and due to federal laws protecting student privacy—LCPS is limited as to what it can share with the public,” according to the statement. “At this point in the investigation, Leesburg police have not determined what charges, if any, will be sought regarding this incident.”
The school system statement also pointed out that federal law prohibits the disclosure of disciplinary consequences involving students and that School Board policy sets discipline consequences, “including expulsion, for very serious infractions.”
