Hundreds Line Up for Some of the Region’s Best Pie

The line at Mom’s Apple Pie in Leesburg today wasn’t just out the door, it almost looped back around the small downtown shop.

Hundreds of hungry patrons stopped by the shop on Wednesday to pick up a last-minute Thanksgiving dessert, with about 75 waiting in line at any given point.

During the week of Thanksgiving, the shop, founded in 1981, bakes thousands of pies daily and serves them to customers on a first-come, first-serve basis. According to its website, pumpkin, apple and sweet potato pies are sold for $18.

The shop is open today until 6:30 p.m.
