Gymnastics Season Opens with Loudoun Valley Meet

The Woodgrove High School Varsity gymnastics team opens this year’s competitive season on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. with a meet at Loudoun Valley High School in Purcellville. In addition to the home team, Woodgrove will be facing teams from Park View, Loudoun County and Riverside high schools.

The Woodgrove squad is returning all six of its veteran members from last year. The team is led by co-captains River Stone and Erin Ramsey, both seniors. Junior Jodi Snare and sophomores Meghan Dunster, Laura McMullen and Corynne Rittner are joined by freshmen Angela Gutierrez and Amanda Lazarro to round out the team. This is Margie Barnes’ fifth year as head coach of the Woodgrove program.

Woodgrove will be looking to build on its successes from last year, when the team placed second in the Dulles District Championships and were Region 5A runners-up. Stone, who won first place in both district and regional competition, went on to place eighth all-around at states.
