Two Loudoun high schools competed in state championship football games today. The county’s long-running dynasty, Stone Bridge, was again turned away by a rival powerhouse, but Woodgrove secured its first title.
The Wolverines (10-2) beat Lake Taylor (12-2) today at Liberty University in a high-scoring 38-33 game.
The Bulldogs (11-3) lost to undefeated Highland Springs, which also beat Stone Bridge in the 2015 and 2016 state title games. It was the fourth straight state championship for Highland Springs. The score was 37-26.
