The first snowstorm of 2019 has blanketed Loudoun County with more than four inches of snow, prompting the closure of many businesses and the cancellation of worship services and community events. Loudoun County Public Schools will be closed Monday.
Snow is expected to continue through Sunday, adding at least another inch to the 4 to 7 inches of accumulation that fell overnight.
While main roads are largely clear, residents are encouraged to remain home to allow crews to continue their snow-removal efforts that will continue through the night.
The light, fluffy snow isn’t much for snowman-making, but sledders are having a fun day outside. In Leesburg, the Cook family moved the cows to a back field and opened Meadow Hill, the spot along Dry Mill Road where kids, for decades, have been invited to get outside for some snow fun.
