High Schoolers Work to Raise $50K for Cancer Research

The youth of Purcellville is doing its part to raise awareness and money for cancer research.

Ten students from Woodgrove and Loudoun Valley High Schools are working to raise $50,000 as part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year Campaign, which will benefit the organization’s mission to cure blood cancers. The students’ “LoCo on Cancer” team is competing against 32 other teams in the region until Feb. 28 for a chance to have a research grant named for in honor of Sara Willis, a Loudoun Valley senior who died of cancer in November.
