Leesburg’s China King to Celebrate 30 Years

One of downtown Leesburg’s longtime destination restaurants will celebrate three decades in business this month. Ken and May Mao opened China King in 1975, and their relatives, the Whang family, bought the restaurant in 1989. It’s known for its comfort food-style Chinese cuisine, cozy and relaxing dining room and friendly staff, led by proprietor Waily Whang. The China King team will commemorate the 30thanniversary of Whang’s ownership with a special open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the restaurant at 5 S. King St. in Leesburg. A cake-cutting celebration will be at noon.
