The Town Council last week voted unanimously to donate $500 to the 2020 Western Loudoun Artists Studio Tour. It also directed Town Manager Rob Ritter to apply for a matching grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts to help fund next year’s event.
The council also authorized the staff to pay for a $500 print ad in the 2019 tour booklet. This year’s 14th annual tour will be held June 1-2 and will feature 68 artists who will open their western Loudoun studios to the public for exhibition and artwork sales. According to event organizers, the tour attracts about 1,000 visitors annually from around the Washington, DC region, which helps to boost the local economies of Lovettsville and surrounding Loudoun towns.
