Representatives of the Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services and the Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure will hold a special community meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 to present plans for improvements at Bles Park in Ashburn.
The meeting will be held at George Washington University’s Virginia Science & Technology Campus, Exploration Hall, 20101 Academic Way.
The park has 30 acres of active recreation space including sports fields and 94 acres of woods, wetlands and trails, including a portion of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail and the Eastern Loudoun Adult Day Center.
Information available at the meeting will include results of a site analysis and a draft master plan for the park created by design consultants William H. Gordon Associates. The $3.4 million proposal includes additional parking spaces, an updated playground equipment, field netting, a picnic pavilion and a canoe/kayak launch. Construction new features is expected to begin next spring or summer, with completion expected in late 2020 or early 2021.
