Editor: I first heard about Suhas when a friend sent me a picture of the “Suhas for Virginia” banner on social media and asked if I was running for governor. After a few laughs, I started to take a closer look at Suhas.
I was immediately impressed by his work experience in government, including at the White House in the Obama administration. Intrigued, I reached out to speak with him to learn more about his platform and ideas. He showed so much interest in me and my story during our phone call, and I felt energized hearing him discuss the issues that matter most to him, like healthcare and education. Even over the phone, I could feel his passion for our community. As a medical student, I care deeply about access to healthcare, and was heartened to hear about his background as a firefighter/EMT and his work on the Loudoun Health Council. When I had the opportunity to meet him in person, his energy and enthusiasm for improving the lives of people in our district were infectious, motivating me to recommit to my community here in Virginia even as I attend graduate school in Boston.
I feel lucky that someone so qualified, intelligent, and passionate is running to represent us in Richmond. He will be an exemplary public servant, dedicated to promoting the health, well-being, and happiness of his constituents. I’m excited to be able to vote for him on June 11th– and I also feel lucky to share his name.
