Another Loudoun Teacher Charged with On-Campus Alcohol Violation

For the second time in a week, a Loudoun elementary school teacher was locked up after being suspected of intoxication.

At 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning the Sheriff’s Office was called by school personnel at Horizon Elementary School in Cascades to investigate a possibly drunken teacher. During the investigation bottles of alcohol were located in the teacher’s vehicle on school property.

Gary K. Goodwin, 40, of Leesburg, was charged with drinking or possessing alcoholic beverages in or on public school grounds and public intoxication. He has been released on bond, pending an Aug. 22 hearing in Loudoun County District Court.

Last week a teacher at Mill Run Elementary School was arrested on similar charges.
