Loudoun deputies responding to an Ashburn home to assist rescue crews found themselves facing a masked man carrying a machete.
The incident began just after 2:30 a.m. at a Jarvis Square home where a man had been reported in need of medical attention. According to the report, the patient was aggressive toward the rescue workers and, as the deputies were talking with a family member inside the home, the man exited a bedroom wearing a mask and carrying a machete.
One deputy drew his firearm and gave commands to drop the weapon. The man then moved toward a second deputy while still carrying the machete. After the deputies’ commands to drop the weapon were ignored, a deputy deployed his TASER. Malik Jefferson, 24, of Ashburn, was taken into custody without further incident. He was charged with two counts of assault on law enforcement. He was held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
