An Aldie man has taken to social media to ask for help in finding his canine companion Brutus.
Brutus was last seen the evening of Thursday, May 9, at Andrew Jenkins’ home on Lenah Farm Lane in Aldie. Jenkins believes Brutus snuck out when someone opened the door that evening, and the family did not realize he was missing until the following morning.
Since he has been missing, there has been only one viable lead that turned out to be a false alarm. Jenkins and others have searched for the 10-year-old Pit Boxer mix, and have also enlisted the services of a professional dog tracker. He believes that Brutus may have been picked up or taken.
“I’m devastated,” Jenkins said this week. “He’s been my best friend for 10 years since I adopted him at six months [old].”
Jenkins said Brutus has brown brindle coloring and is extremely friendly, but does not like cats. He is neutered and microchipped and was wearing a collar with contact information for his family.
Jenkins is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who finds or returns Brutus. He has also started a Facebook page, Help find Brutus, that he is asking the public to share. A GoFundMe page has also been started to assist with the cost of professional assistance and the reward fund.
