Longtime Leesburg Town Employee Passes Away

A fixture in Leesburg’s  town government for more than two decades passed away this week.

Mary Fishback died Wednesday, May 22.

She began her work for the town in a citizen capacity, serving on the Thomas Balch Library’s Advisory Committee in 1994. After working as a part-time recreation instructor at Ida Lee from 1995 to 1996, she would go on to work at the Balch library for almost 23 years. She began her work at the Balch in July 1996 as a part-time genealogy instructor before becoming a full-time library assistant in November 2000.

Fishback was also an active member of the town government’s Employee Activity Committee and was responsible for coordinating popular events like bowling and the chili cook-off.

Funeral arrangements are pending and details will be posted as they are available.
