Just two days after being signed to the team, forward Christian Sorto made a memorable professional debut scoring both goals in Loudoun United’s first home win Friday night at Audi Stadium in Washington, DC.
Sorto was a member of D.C. United’s academy this spring and was one of three players added to Loudoun United’s roster on Wednesday.
After a scoreless first half in the match with Atlanta United 2, Sorto entered the match at the start of the second half and scored twice in a 16-minute span, at the 63-minute and 79-minute marks.
The team held the 2-0 lead until the 86thminute, when Guillermo Benitez got a shot past Earl Edwards, who recorded five saves.
Loudoun United is 4-6-3 and in 13th place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference standings. The next match will be July 6 against St. Louis FC at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
