Loudoun United FC has acquired the former number two pick in the MLS Superdraft Carlos Alvarez for the remainder of the season.
The University of Connecticut star launched his professional career playing for Chivas USA in 2013.He has 162 total professional appearances in his career with seven MLS and USL teams, scoring 19 career goals and recording 16 assists.
“Adding a player with Carlos’ pedigree and experience is a tremendous boost to the team on and off the field as we push for the playoffs.” Loudoun United Head Coach Ryan Martin said. “He is an attacker who is very good at scoring and creating goals. Even in his short time here he has been a great mentor to the younger guys and a key contributor in trainings. We are excited to welcome Carlos to Loudoun United.”
The midfielder last played with Las Vegas Lights FC, a USL Championship team, in 2018.
Loudoun United plays tonight at 7 p.m. against North Carolina FC inSahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.
Loudoun is 13th in the USL Champoinship’s Eastern Conference standings with a record of 4 wins, 4 draws and 6 loses with 20 games remaining. The top 10 teams in each conference will qualify for the playoffs.
